Story Editor

The Story Editor feature allows you to add and edit text in a few ways. First, login to Insteo Editor with your username and password. Then you can do one of the following:

Select the page you want to edit from the Site Overview list.
Click on the Add New Page button if you’d like to create a new page.

Navigate directly to the page you wish to edit, and click on the Edit Page Text button.

Copy, Paste, and Format Text

Once you have selected the page you want to edit or add by using one of the methods noted at the beginning of this guide, scroll down to the Contents field (this is the Story Editor), where you can add new text or make changes to existing text. You can edit text directly in the Contents field, or copy and paste text.

The Story Editor features a Microsoft Office-type toolbar with familiar buttons to help you format your text. Simply highlight the sections you want to format, and then select the format you’d like to apply, such as bold or italics. (Tip: If you hold your mouse over a button, a description of it appears.) To use mouse shortcuts to select formats, just right click on the text you highlight to cut, copy and paste, much like Microsoft Word.

You can also use the Quick-Format options in the right navigation to easily format your headlines, subheads, body text and other types of content. In most cases, you will only need to use the body-text and body-head styles (for section titles or subheads) when editing standard page content. The headline styles, sidebar-text and copyright options are reserved for editing Themes.

Important: When you copy text into the Contents field (Story Editor), you should use one of the “Paste with” buttons from the toolbar or right-click your mouse and “paste plain text.” This helps ensure that any extra formatting is removed from your copy. If you are having trouble formatting content within the Story Editor, it’s best to copy your text and re-paste it as plain text. Then you can make the formatting changes you want, using Quick-Format styles. Once you are finished adding or editing text, make sure you click the Save button at the bottom of the page.

Upload a PDF

If you’d like to add a PDF file to your website, select the page you’d like it to appear on from Site Overview list or navigate directly to it and click on the Edit Page Text button. Scroll down, and just before the Contents field (Story Editor) you’ll see “PDF File Upload” next to a blank field along with Browse and Upload buttons.

  1. Click the Browse button.
  2. Select the file you want to upload from your computer.
  3. Click the Open button in the pop-up window.
  4. Click the Upload button.
  5. Once the Upload is complete, a link to your PDF appears below the “PDF File Upload” field.
  6. Click the Save button at the bottom of the page.
